The ACLU-NJ filed an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court of New Jersey to reject the Attorney General's request to overrule  precedent requiring a warrant to obtain an individual's telephone billing records. Our brief argues that telephone billing can reveal private information about an individual's personal affairs, including expressive and associational activities protected by the First Amendment, deserving the highest degree of constitutional protection.
