Jene Irving is currently a BOLD Fellow at the ACLU-NJ. She holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Rutgers Newark School of Arts and Sciences and an associate's degree in Paralegal Studies from Essex County College.

As a Newark native, Jene believes the formation of her identity has been influenced by her community. Newark reflects where she has been and where she is going. To Jene, Newark is much more than a place for test projects or an afterthought: it reflects her upbringing.

It is Jene's goal to become a civil rights attorney, as her focus is in creating safeguards to help others. She desires to effectively impact society by disrupting policies that enable communities to be dependent on government programs. Breaking down barriers with a focus on human need will create an inclusive community for all.
