The New Jersey Assembly today passed A4225, which would expand access to professional or occupational licenses for all New Jerseyans, regardless of immigration status. The Senate version of the bill, S2455, passed earlier, sending the legislation to Gov. Phil Murphy’s desk for his signature.
The following quote can be attributed to ACLU-NJ Campaign Strategist Alejandra Sorto:
“This vote means that thousands of New Jerseyans are now closer to opportunities allowing them to participate even more meaningfully, and our state is closer to benefiting from their contributions as we grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. We thank the Legislature for this important step in making our state stronger and more equitable, and we urge Governor Murphy to sign it into law as quickly as possible, so that as many people as possible can make a difference.”
