ACLU-NJ, other members of New Jersey United for Marijuana Reform and other advocates are combining forces to form NJ CAN 2020 to legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana
Leading advocates in the effort to legalize marijuana in New Jersey are forming a campaign coalition calling for the legalization, taxation, and regulation of cannabis in a way that puts racial and social justice front and center.
The group, NJ CAN 2020 – which will initially include organizational members of New Jersey United for Marijuana Reform including the ACLU of New Jersey, Doctors for Cannabis Regulation, Latino Action Network, American Trade Association for Cannabis and Hemp, Law Enforcement Action Partnership, and the NAACP New Jersey State Conference, along with industry partners such as the NJ CannaBusiness Association, political strategists, faith communities, and other leaders in the movement to legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana – will have a simple mission: to build an inclusive, diverse, robust campaign leading to a “yes” vote to the 2020 ballot question on legalizing cannabis.
Over the course of the upcoming weeks, the group will work to ensure diverse voices, particularly those directly impacted by the continued criminalization of marijuana, are at the table as New Jersey voters decide to create jobs, strengthen our economy, and reform the criminal legal system to create a more just New Jersey.
Members of NJ CAN 2020 will be available throughout the day, Tuesday, March 10, at the NJ Cannabis Insider Live conference.
